Sandaway Lodge and the Robert Morris Inn offers Sea views in the Oxford region of Maryland.
The Robert Morris Inn, dating back to 1710 is one of the oldest historic inns in the United States. Robert Morris, Jr. helped finance the Revolutionary War, numbered George Washington among his friends, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the United States Constitution. The Main Inn and Lodge are situated next to the Tred Avon River (off the Chesapeake Bay) in the colonial village of Oxford, Maryland. We are only 6 miles from St. Michaels, 10 miles from Easton and Cambridge, and 20 miles from Tilghman Island.

Our Waterfront Lodge Sandaway 1875 - Owned and operated for over thirty years by the Gibson Family, the Inn's hallmarks are simple comfort, quiet hospitality and delicious food, especially our Chesapeake Bay crab cakes and seafood. James A. Michener, author of "Chesapeake", rated the Robert Morris Inn's crab cakes the highest of any restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Sandaway Lodge is located 1/2 block from the Main Inn (down Lovers Lane) and sits on 2 acres of waterfront property with a private beach. Guests walk to the inn for dining. The Sandaway Lodge dates back to 1875 and was once a private residence. Most rooms here have king beds and water views--some have private porches.
All our overnight guests are able to enjoy this spectacular property with its spacious lawn and Adirondack chairs. From this location there is a million dollar view down the river.
For the ultimate Chesapeake experience ask for the Sandaway suite. Your first floor bedroom with a canopy king bed, soaking tub for two, and side porch is located at Sandaway Lodge. Your separate sitting room is located on the beach with views of the river in 3 directions. Great sunsets!
The water bound village of Oxford was once Maryland's largest port of call, and it is still an important center for boat building and yachting. Oxford is a protected harbor for the watermen who harvest oysters, crabs, clams and fish, and for sailors from all over the Bay.
The Inn crowns the north end of Morris Street. Additional accommodations are offered at the Inn's Sandaway Lodge located one-half block away, on two acres of waterfront property complete with private beach. Guests may choose to stay in one of the quaint Inn rooms or in the Sandaway, where many rooms have private porches overlooking the water . All guest rooms have private baths and are decorated with comfortable country furnishings.
