"Armitage Inn" offers River
views in the New Castle region of Delaware.
Built in 1732, the Armitage Inn is beautifully situated on the banks of the Delaware River in the heart of the Battery Park in historic Olde New Castle, Delaware.
The Armitage Inn is one of the older bed and breakfasts in New Castle, DE. One of the rooms on the main floor is believed to have been built in the 1600's and was later used as a kitchen. Within it is an original brick "walk in" cooking fireplace. The house is situated only a few feet away from the spot where William Penn, who was given title to the area now known as Pennsylvania and Delaware, first set foot in the New World.
On the ground floor guests may enjoy their breakfast in the beautiful dining room and relax in the sun bathed parlor. After breakfast, a walk towards the back of the house will lead into the charming old library and onto a porch overlooking the walled garden and the cottage.
